MEMORY VERSE: Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
BACKGROUND: As a believer in Christ we are encouraged not to be content with faith alone, because faith without work is dead. We add several things to our life daily but God want us to add works of faith, fruit of the spirit and excellence to our service.
Christ must be living in us (soul , spirit and body) 1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price:therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
PURPOSE OF VIRTUE: 2Peter 1:5-7God want us to live for Him and be a light and example or a model of Christ likeness in this world, hence we are admonished by The Lord to add these eight virtues to our faith. Discuss each .
PRODUCT OF VIRTUE: 2Peter 1:8 From this verse we see how productive we will be when we have these virtues . Without it, we will just be an empty barren making noise with no righteous fruit to show. We become blind and indifference to the things of God though we say we are christian. Instead of being a light we now become darkness.
POWER OF GOD IN A VIRTUOUS BELIEVER: John 15:7; Job22:27-30. When we live and abide in the word of The Lord we begin to experience his power working in us. We get answered to our prayers and obtain favor from God.
